![]() That should give you an idea of how schlocky these Fleabay resellers are.īottom line, you can do it, but not with that drive. So you could buy this 5HP drive and run a 2-1/2HP motor, or buy a cheaper 3HP drive and run a 3HP motor. Notice that they don't give you a link to a manual? Wonder why? They do not need de-rating only up to and including 3HP at 5HP and up, they must be de-rated by 50% at least. You will only find out AFTER you receive it and read the manual. I know their blurb on the Fleabay site implies that, but it is NOT true, it is a LIE. Pursuant to item 2, that drive is NOT, I repeat NOT capable of a single phase input and getting a fully rated 5HP 3 phase output. Huanyang, in China, does NOT offer any direct warranty support, they tell you that you must work through the reseller, who by that time is gone. THAT particular Huanyang VFD (that's the brand name by the way, which is the sound you make after realizing you wasted your money) has a well deserved reputation for being crap, and is sold by a lot of fly-by-night Fleabay sellers who buy a bunch, sell them all cheap, then disappear so that they don't have to support the warranty failures. Combining both situations CAN work, but it is at risk of VFD failure if you skimp.Ģ. Using a single phase source ALSO means more bus ripple, which you have to overcome by over sizing the drive to get more capacitors. ![]() ![]() As a general rule, VFDs don't "like" recip compressors too much, the pulsating torque needs of the compressor creates ripple on the DC bus, and transistors don't like ripple too much. ![]()
